Hundreds Converge on Farmville to Say No New Detention Center

For the first time since the student uprising that led to Brown vs. the Board of Education hundreds of protesters descended on Farmville Saturday, March 7th After speakers, musicians and street theater at Riverside Park, we marched through downtown to demand an end to plans for a new immigrant detention center. Carloads and caravans traveled from practically every city in the state, including a bus from Prince William County organized by Mexicanos Sin Fronteras. The end of the days saw groups returning to their communities, energized to continue in the struggle. Join us again in Farmville on Wednesday, April 8th as we carry our message to the Town Council at their 7 pm meeting.
